This is for our work developing a Community Action Team in the Pilgrims Hatch area of Brentwood, Essex. Here we developed a neighbourhood partnership made up of local residents and service delivery agency representatives. At the outset of the project we provided Open College Network accredited training for residents, and agency representatives. This training provided them with problem solving skills, knowledge of environmental legislation, area audit skills and presentation skills.
These skills have been used in developing action plans and implementing a range of activities and changes to service delivery. The residents use their audit skills developed by the training in undertaking regular audits of the local area. They report back their findings to Council and partner agency representatives.
